Kaamulan MPC and AFI: Partners in Community Initiative to Support Education
To push forward their shared vision of enhanced learning environments for children, Kaamulan MPC - Malaybalay Satellite Office and the Asiapro Foundation joined hands to support the Tamogawe Elementary School in Sitio Mapayag, Malaybalay, Bukidnon during their outreach program last February 11. The activity, an initiative under the Koop Damayan Program, benefitted 36 early grade students by distributing learning sets, hygiene kits, and construction materials for school improvement.
A short yet joyous program was emceed by Teacher Nelly Genon, classroom adviser of combined sections for Grades 1 and 2. “The school only opened in August of last year. Our classrooms are not in a good condition. My co-teacher and I decided to shell-out from our own pockets just to have our classroom-floor cemented,” shared Genon.
The school’s Parents Teacher Association (PTA) President, Donaliza Ortega disclosed that she was touched that the Koop Damayan initiative provided construction supplies, a first for their school. Groups of parents, men and women excitedly helped in carrying the donated construction materials inside the school premises. Some immediately started mixing sand and cement in one of the classrooms.
Moises II Castillon, Kaamulan Satellite Operations Head encouraged the enthusiasm and support displayed by the parents for their children’s education. “We all have dreams for our children. While we do not hold the future, we are doing good if we do not fail to provide their right to education.” He also acknowledged the sacrifice and steadfast service of the school teachers of Tamogawe who literally go the distance to reach the young children. He cited them for laying a strong foundation to a better future for the children.
The School-in-Charge, Katreena Calimpusan expressed her gratitude to Kaamulan MPC and Asiapro Foundation for all the essential donations. “We will no longer have a leaking roof and dusty classrooms because of your efforts. We commit to keep you updated on the positive changes brought by your donation.”
The Koop Damayan Program aims to empower communities through a pool of cooperative volunteers working together to provide essential support and services to underserved populations.
